Now that summer’s over, Sugar Beach has a severe shortage of tourists.
Perfect for me 🙂
Started from the bottom
…now we’re here
Two years ago I was this short, black-haired, bitter person with nothing going on in my life. I was stuck in a dead-end job working at a TV station nobody ever heard of. The station just lost it’s mandatory CRTC licence (insert Canadian broadcasting bureaucracy eyeroll) and layoffs were imminent. It felt like the building was on fire and I had to stampede the fuck out of there immediately.
(I actually loved that job – don’t get me wrong. But I had zero future in that field. TV’s dead, don’t you know?)
I enrolled in this law clerk program figuring hey, it’s 6 months of my life. Either it’ll be a total fail or something good’ll come out of it. The worst thing that can happen is I’ll learn some things and maybe meet some new people.
Now, two years later, I’m working at one of the top law firms in the country. It’s crazy to look back and see how much I’ve changed. More than just the physical change of going from a jeans and backpack wardrobe to one consisting of dresses, heels and blazers.
I definitely took the right step forward. And I know there’s only more good things to come!
By the way…this song never gets old:
Finally, the humidity subsided slightly today. It was enough to finally indulge in my first Pumpkin Spice Latte of the season.
Apparently this year, Starbucks changed the recipe for their iconic fall drink, using real pumpkin instead of just the syrup.
No. Worst news ever. I hate change. HATE change. If it ain’t broke, why fix it? Right?
It was actually okay (deep sigh of relief). It smelled and tasted absolutely divine, with the perfect amount of spice and rich flavour to help me appreciate fall.
Maybe it’s just been too long since my last one.
